Abstract
Chylous fistula following radical neck dissection is a disturbing and potentially serious complication. Loss of chyle from body will rapidly deplete the body stores of fluid, protein and electrolytes. Although it is a recognized complication in 1-2% of all radical neck dissection, specific recommendation for management of this problem is difficult to find in the literature.
This present report describes our recent experience with three cases of chylous fistula that was treated successfully by conservative management, and we discuss with reference to anatomy and physiology of the thoracic duct, incidence, etiology, diagnosis and management of the chylous fistula.
